Spoilers below for Dexter: New Blood S1.07 Skin of Her Teeth

Dexter: New Blood S1.07

We are getting down to it! The episode starts with Dexter and Angela in the cave. Dexter is in full Dexter mode. He’s looking down at a 25 year old frozen body and immediately knows more than Angela does. Iris was not shot in the cave (we knew that), she was dragged there, and she was alive when she was left in the cave. Plus, Dexter pulls a classic Dexter move and finds a piece of skin attached to her tooth. He loves finding stuff in victims’ mouths.

Of course, the skin is Kurt’s. When he tells Angela about finding Molly and Kurt at the cabin, they search it but Kurt has cleaned it out completely. It doesn’t matter though because it looks pretty bad. Meanwhile, Harrison is really buddying up to Kurt. He started working at the truck stop and Dexter came by to bother him on his first day. Kurt bought him a slice of pie and said some cryptic things about the night Dexter found Kurt outside of the bar. Before he could finish, Angela and Logan arrested Kurt.

At the station, Kurt pretended he didn’t know Iris, but then went back on his story. While he’s in jail, one of his workers (who was the fake Matt at the hotel in NYC) gives Harrison an envelope to give Dexter. When Dexter opens it, he finds a titanium pin. He decides to visit Kurt at the jail (after letting the sheep out so the one cop on duty wasn’t there). At first Dexter comes out swinging and tells him to stay away from Harrison. But then, Kurt lets him know that “titanium doesn’t burn.” So! The pin is from Matt’s leg after the boat accident and Kurt knows what Dexter did. He’s one step ahead. It’s a battle of the serial killers.

Eventually, Kurt makes a statement saying his father used to pick up working women and hitchhikers and beat them. He said he saw Iris get into his father’s truck and that was the last he saw of her. Obviously that story sucks because he didn’t say anything about it for 25 years, which is suspicious, but they had to let him go. Angela is pissed and not sure she believes it.

But, in the audience, we see what really happens. Iris gets into Kurt’s truck and tells him that she is going anywhere that’s away from Iron Lake. Kurt tells her he’s going to take her home so she can avoid life on the road. When she says no, she tries to jump out of the truck and he grabs onto her. She bites his hand, jumps out, and starts running. Kurt pulls out his rifle and shoots her in the back as she runs away. Looks like this is where his obsession with shooting women in the back as they run away comes from.

Angela goes to the tavern and Molly meets her there. Angela tells Molly what happened and then they begin to unpack how creepy Kurt is…but also Dexter. Molly explains that Dexter didn’t overhear she and Kurt, he must have recorded them with his phone. Angela is on high alert, but honestly, Dexter could just tell her that he was suspicious of Kurt already because he has been taken too much of a liking to Harrison. However, Molly says it’s might be time to do a “deep dive” into Jim. Will Angela tell her that he’s actually Dexter? If she does, Molly will for sure put the pieces together with the BHB and Trinity.

It doesn’t really matter, though, because in the last scene of the episode, the boys from the other school try to jump Harrison. He immediately takes out his straight razor and cuts one of the boys on the arm. Dexter stops Harrison from doing more damage and the boys run off. Harrison tells Dexter that he used to dream about what happened in the bathroom when Trinity killed Rita. But, after listening to Molly’s podcast, he realized they were memories. They also show a new scene with Trinity where he reaches down to baby Harrison and says his daddy will be home soon. Even so many years later, Trinity is still so creepy!

Harrison runs off with a friend and then Dexter is attacked from behind by the same guy that gave Harrison the envelope. Uh oh! Looks like I wasn’t fully correct about the situation, but I was kind of close. Looks like next episode, Dexter will need to get away from his kidnapper plus he will need to get Harrison away from Kurt, who is holding onto him tightly.

Dexter is going to need to come clean to Harrison so he knows that Dexter is a “psycho” too. Otherwise, Harrison is going to see that Kurt is like him and he’s going to join the dark side. Ooh, what’s going to happen? Also, will this really be a limited series? If so, maybe they’ll just blow it all up and kill Dexter or Harrison. I really hope not though because I am so enjoying this season!
